Train Better - Eat Right - Add FiberEating right and adding fiber to your diet helps the body feel satisfied with less food, because high fiber foods require chewing. By increased chewing, hunger pains are soothed. When a person eats fibrous foods, tension receptors in the intestinal walls are activated. These receptors transmit satiety signals to the brain. This means even a small fibrous meal can give a person the same satisfaction as a much heavier fat-laden meal. A wide variety of foods can provide an abundant amount of daily fiber. Incorporate these food groups in your diet while training and notice the difference. Whole grains - means the entire grain. This includes: wheat germ, fresh, unprocessed bran and whole-grain by-products. Vegetables - should be eaten raw whenever possible. The greater the crunch the greater the fiber. Fruits and tough skin vegetables - are beneficial, especially those with edible seeds. Blackberries, blueberries, tomatoes and squash are recommended. Seeds and nuts - shelled and unshelled. Avoid salted products. Tuberous root vegetables - skin or no skin. Carrots, white and sweet potatoes, turnips and parsnips are recommended. Pod vegetables - supply bulk. Avoid over cooking. Two or three minutes maximum cooking time. Green beans, green peas, dried beans, lentils and lima beans are a good source. Fresh PickTomatoes are good low-calorie source of vitamin C, which helps develop healthy teeth, bones and muscles. They are also a good source for vitamin A - carotene, which is on a list of foods eaten by caner free people. Research has shown that people who eat tomatoes on a regular basis have lower risk of dying from cancer. Tomatoes can help the body to speed up its metabolic process. Natural acids in tomatoes combine with the enzyme-activated minerals and prompt a persons kidneys to filter large quantities of fatty deposits from your blood stream. Tomatoes are both low in sodium and fat but rich with potassium. Buying Tips: Vine ripened with a rich red color. Look for smooth unblemished well formed fragrant tomatoes with a slight softness. |
