Continental's Vectran and Black Chili technologies have been radically applied to this uncompromising race tire set, specifically developed for the front and rear wheels of race bikes.
The new Grand Prix Attack benefits from its special Black Chili version that gives the streamlined 22mm front tire more grip with lower rolling resistance, compared to the previous GP Attack tire.
The sticky compound on the front tire provides strong adhesion in wet and dry conditions. It is designed as an all season racing tire even for those rainy Spring & Autum circuit races. Its dimension of 22mm provides secure grip, while reducing wind resistance and weight. It features a single anti-puncture layer under the tread to keep weight low but still give excellent protection.
The new Grand Prix Force is a powerful rear wheel specialist and with its 24mm section combined with a fast Black Chili compound, it gives excellent traction and road handling thats second to none.
On the back you'll want a strong tire to force your power through to the road. A 24mm casing-with good puncture protection, a long lasting tread and a high TPI casing provides a supple and stable ride that you'd expect from Continental. With two puncture protection layers under the tread- necessary for the added stresses applied to the rear wheel compared to the front. The GP-Force has a long lasting tread compound that will cover thousands of competition miles without sacrificing traction and cornering ability.
To satisfy the demands of the serious racer. When paired up with the GP-Attack, this makes the best application-specific racing tire combination.
Vectran Breaker: The innovation in puncture protection. Made from melted Vectra Liquid Crystal Polymer, Vectran is the only LCP fiber in the world, made using a spinning process Vectran is lightweight, extremely durable, resistant to water is five times stronger than steel. Conti tires which include one or sometimes two layers of Vectran under the tread are some of the toughest and lightweight bicycle tires available
Vectran is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fibre from a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid-crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran is spun from melted liquid polymer Vectra and processed further to a multi-strand thread. Spider silk, like Vectran, has an enormous tear resistance at a very low weight – exactly the right properties to process into a premium Continental bike tyre as a puncture protection insert. A Vectran Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than the comparable nylon breaker. Vectran Breaker does not adversely affect the rolling resistance.
Black Chili Compound
Continental refine newly developed synthetic rubbers with natural rubber with the proven high-performance tread compound. They use these rubbers with special nanometric carbon soot particles, which are optimized in shape and surface properties for best uses for the intended tyre. BlackChili Compound reaches an unprecedented of performance. Tyres with BlackChili Compound reach an unprecedented level of performance. Compared to the previous best Activated Silica Compound, BlackChili tyres have 26% less rolling resistance, a 30 % higher friction value (grip) and a 5 % increase in mileage.
TPS Tire Positioning System
The narrower front tyre (22mm) provides reduced wind resistance and better handling. An adhesion-optimised tread mixture supplies the necessary grip especially for wet cornering. The wider rear tyre (24mm) offers better traction thanks to a larger contact area and at the same time more comfort. Thanks to the fast rolling, optimised tread mixture and larger contact area on the rear tyre, wear is reduced. The result is a pioneering front and rear tyre system for road racing – to be found in Conti’s GP Attack and Force tires/tubs.
