The Shimano Ultegra R8000 is a completely redesigned front derailleur for use with Ultegra ST R8000 shifters for optimum shifting performance. Long pull arm for light action easy shifts with short lever stroke. Wide inner link increased rigidity and takes front shifting performance to a new level, especially under heavy load. The forged wide link cradles the axle pivot at both ends providing a smooth shifting swing. Added frame support bolt for more stability under load.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Lighter front shifting operation
  • New link construction matches the force curve of the hand more naturally to reduce effort at the end of shifting
  • 100% perfect setting
  • New link construction allows for more flexible cable routing design
  • TL-FD68 and turning converter is not required in assembly
  • Easy and precise setting
  • Now possible to adjust cable tension on FD without specialized tools
  • Redesigned to fit wider gear pitch without sacrificing shifting performance
  • Shorter length of rear center (410mm) with O.L.D. 135mm
  • Down-Swing, CS-angle: 61-66, FOR 46/53T CL:43.5mm

Various derailleur systems were designed and built as far back as the late 1800s. A French bicycle tourist, writer and cycling promoter Paul De Vivie (1853-1930), invented a two speed rear derailleur in 1905 which he used on forays into the Alps, and we wonder if 20 gears are enough. Since then there has been many advancements in the number of gears, materials and reductions in weight.
