FAQ About Super Record Wireless 13 Speed Groupsets
Can I use 13-speed Super Record Ergopower controls with 12-speed Super Record Wireless groupsets?
Yes, 13-speed Ergopower controls are compatible with 12-speed Super Record Wireless groupsets as they ensure the rear and front derailleurs’ proper operation. However, to achieve full compatibility, you need to update the software for all components to the latest version available via our official MyCampy App
To complete the configuration correctly, follow these steps:
• Erase the Bluetooth memory from all groupset components.
• Create a new communication network.
• Set up the controls via the app.
Note: To adjust the rear derailleur and reset the front derailleur, use the procedure for 13-speed groupsets following the related LED indicators. Conversely, for individual sprocket and chainring adjustments, use the procedure for 12-speed groupsets following the related LED indicators.
Can I use the Campagnolo 13-speed Super Record rear derailleur in a 12-speed configuration?
No, currently the Campagnolo 13-speed Super Record rear derailleur cannot be used in a 12-speed configuration.
What is the minimum component upgrade required to move from a 12-speed groupset to the 13-speed groupset?
To transition from a 12-speed groupset to the 13-speed groupset, you must replace the following components with the appropriate 13-speed versions:
1. 13-speed sprocket set
2. 13-speed chainrings (i.e. crankset chainrings with or without Power Meter)
3. 13-speed chain
4. 13-speed front derailleur
5. 13-speed rear derailleur
6. 13-speed Ergopower controls
You can upgrade to the 13-speed Super Record with the six components above.
Can I use a 12-speed chain on the 13-speed groupset, and vice versa?
No, 12-speed and 13-speed chains are not interchangeable. Each chain is designed with specific thickness and width tolerances to perfectly match the number of sprockets provided by the groupset. To ensure the correct operation and safety of the drivetrain, it is recommended to use compatible components within the same speed system. If in doubt or for further information on component compatibility, it is advisable to consult with an authorized dealer or specialist mechanic.
Can I use the brakes of the 12-speed SR WRL groupset (calipers, rotors and pads) with the 13-speed Super Record?
Yes, the braking components of the 12-speed groupset are fully interchangeable with those of the 13-speed Super Record. Calipers, rotors and pads maintain the same compatibility and performance, thus there is no need to replace them when upgrading to a 13-speed drivetrain.
Can I use a crankset (including the PWM version) and bottom bracket of a 12-speed groupset with the 13-speed groupset?
Yes, you can use your 12-speed crankset (including the PWM version) with the 13-speed groupset, but you will need to replace the chainrings with specific ones for 13-speed groupsets.
Important note:
• 13-speed QCK-TECH bottom brackets (cups) have been designed exclusively for 13-speed cranksets and are not compatible with 12-speed cranksets
• Likewise, 12-speed PRO-TECH and Ekar/Ekar GT bottom brackets (cups) are not compatible with 13-speed cranksets.
To ensure mechanical compatibility and optimal performance, always check the correspondence between crankset and bottom bracket.
Can I use a 12-speed Super Record Wireless groupset front derailleur with the 13-speed Super Record groupset?
No, the new 13-speed Super Record front derailleur has been specifically designed to work with the appropriate 13-speed chain. It is therefore not compatible with the components of a 12-speed Wireless groupset, due to the different geometry, spacing and dimensions of the chain. To ensure correct performance and reliability, you can only use the 13-speed front derailleur within the 13-speed system.
Can I use 12-speed Super Record Wireless batteries in the 13-speed Super Record groupset, and vice versa?
Yes, batteries are completely interchangeable between the 12-speed and 13-speed Super Record Wireless groupsets. To use 13-speed batteries in 12-speed groupsets, update the software for the rear and front derailleurs to the latest firmware version available.
Note: 13-speed groupset batteries have a simplified LED system to indicate the charge status compared to the 12-speed groupsets.
Can I replace my 12-speed Spider Power Meter with the 13-speed Power Meter on the cranks, and vice versa?
Yes, the Spider Power Meter is interchangeable between the 12-speed and 13-speed groupsets, as both versions share mechanical and functional compatibility.
How can I recognize the type of rear derailleur I need based on my frame?
There are different solutions depending on the standards available on the market. The correct rear derailleur type depends on your frame's dropout and derailleur hanger design. To help you identify the right derailleur for your bike, please refer to the diagram available at this link. It will guide you through the different options based on your frame's specifications.
Which bottom bracket do I need for my bike?
We have designed a range of bottom brackets—both threaded and press-fit—to cover nearly all the major standards currently available on the market. You can find a compatibility matrix at the following link. This chart serves as a general guideline to help you choose the right bottom bracket for your frame. However, before purchasing or installing a bottom bracket, we strongly recommend consulting your frame manufacturer or a qualified mechanic to ensure proper fit and compatibility.
