Long fast descents demand confidence. With the BR-R9200 Dura-Ace rim brake set, Shimano continues to offer an option for classic mechanical braking for the new Dura-Ace groupset. With the BR-R9200 rim brake, Shimano continues to offer a mechanical braking option for its top Dura-Ace road bike groupset. The model features the proven symmetrical double joint construction, and weighs about 30 grams less than the Ultegra version. This is mainly due to the cartridge brake shoe holders made of magnesium, which are of course angle-adjustable, as well as the titanium hardware. Dura-Ace delivers concentration control and confidence with slick fast accurate performance that you can depend upon without distraction. Dura-Ace now has an 12 speed cassette with numerous gearing options to cover all situations. Leading edge design materials and construction reduce weight improve stiffness and enhance control.

Rim brakes for bikes use the sidewall of the rim to reduce speed this is done by a pad on either side applying friction against the rim which reduces your momentum. Road brake calipers have been redesigned over the years and now use a system called 'dual pivot' which means the brake arms pivot off center to apply a higher amount of pressure on the rim to increase your stopping power. Most manufacturers use dual pivot calipers on the front and rear but some Campagnolo brakes use a traditional single pivot on the rear to 'balance' the braking power the logic behind this is that as you brake your weight shifts on to the front of the bike and as much as 75% of the braking force is applied to the front.
